RoK chooses week to welcome Vietnamese tourists

The Republic of Korea (RoK) has chosen the week from September 2nd to 8th to welcome Vietnamese tourists.

On June 27th, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Nguyen Ngoc Thien had a meeting with his Korean partner Park Yang-woo to promote the bilateral cooperation in the field of culture, sports and tourism. 

Addressing at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien said the bilateral relationship in these three areas would be close and friendly, bringing high efficiency.

Over the past time, Vietnam has coordinated with RoK to organize promotional events such as "Vietnam-Korea Culture and Food Festival", "Korean Days in Vietnam", " Vietnam Culture and Tourism Week in Korea"; "Korean Film week in Vietnam".

In addition, Korean entertainment corporations such as CJ with CGV cinema system are also actively investing in Vietnam's cinema. The two sides also shared and exchanged experiences in the field of cinema.

Mr. Thien said that RoK is currently the second largest tourist market of Vietnam. In the context of increasing number of Koreans to Vietnam to travel, work and live, Minister expected the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of RoK as well as Korean authorities to continue to support and hoped that Korea would become Vietnam's largest tourism market in the future.

Regarding sports, the Minister thanked the Korean side for facilitating sports teams to train and compete in RoK as well as providing coaches for football teams, archery, gun shooting and taekwondo.

For his part, Minister Park Yang-woo said the government was very interested in tourism. In 2018, 28 million Koreans travelled abroad, of which more than 4 million people came to Vietnam. It is expected that 4.3-4.5 million Korean tourists come to Vietnam this year. The Minister also added that RoK decided to choose the week of September 2nd – 8th, 2019 as the week to welcome Vietnamese tourists to RoK./.
