Two Vietnamese cities among Top 10 cheapest cost of living in Southeast Asia

The global database website Numbeo has released a ranking list of cities with the cheapest and most expensive cost of living in 2018.

According to figures collected from 27 cities in Southeast Asia, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city are listed among the Top 10 for cheapest cost of living, in which the Vietnamese capital ranked 7th and the southern hub ranked 9th.

The criteria for the ranking include: rent index, cost of living plus rent index, groceries index, restaurant price index, and local purchasing power index. All indexes are compared to the mark of New York city on the 100-point scale.

Other cities that were ranked on the list are Valenzuela, Davao, Quezon (the Philippines), Bandung, Medan, Surabaya, Yogyakarta (Indonesia), and Cebu (the Philippines).

Meanwhile, the Top 5 most expensive cost of living cities in the region are Singapore, Bangkok (Thailand), Makati (the Philippines), Phuket (Thailand) and Johor Bahru (Malaysia)./.
