Vietjet to build aviation technology centre in southern city

The low-cost carrier Vietjet Air has received a license from Ho Chi Minh city to develop an aviation technology centre with investment capital of USD140 million.

The Vietjet aviation technology centre will be built on an area of 5.54 hectares under the Ho Chi Minh city Hi-tech Park in March 2017 and is expected to put into operation a full flight simulator centre, co-developed by Airbus, after 12 months.

Earlier, in February 2016, Vietjet and Airbus signed an agreement to establish Airbus training centre in Vietnam to train pilots, engineers, mechanics, flight dispatchers and flight trainers.

On the occasion, Vietjet was granted a certificate to become a member of International Air Transport Association.

In 2016, the airline earned a revenue of VND27.532 trillion, in which profits were VND2.394 billion. It carried more than 14 million passengers this year with seat occupancy of 88.9%./.
