Vietnam Airlines, Cambodia cooperate to develop tourism

Vietnam Airlines and the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism on February 26th signed an agreement for cooperation in tourism development in the 2019 - 2021 period.

Under the agreement, the national flag carrier will promote tourism in Cambodia through fairs, and coordinate with the ministry to build common tourism products and organize a series of meetings. In addition, Vietnam Airlines will survey the opening of new air routes connecting Ha Long and Da Nang cities with Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville.

The airline will also assist in providing free air tickets for Cambodian officials and experts attending workshops and training programs for human resources; create employment opportunities at Vietnam Airlines for students with outstanding achievements and carry out more tourism programs at the market.

Mr. Duong Tri Thanh, General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said: “The cooperation between the two sides plays a significant role in consolidating and expanding sustainable relations between Vietnam and Cambodia. Vietnam Airlines is honored to be the air messenger accompanying Cambodia in cooperation on airlines, tourism, and trade promotion; contributing to speeding up the Cambodian economy.

Last year, Vietnam - Cambodia passenger volume carried by Vietnam Airlines reached more than 700,000 seats. By 2019, the carrier has operated flights to Cambodia for more than 40 years.

Currently, it is operating two flights through Indochina and three direct flights to Cambodia, including Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh city - Seam Reap and Ho Chi Minh city - Phnom Penh, with 56 flights a week./.
