Vietnam among biggest tourist markets of China

Nhan Dan News, quoting recent statistics of the Chinese tourism sector, showed Vietnam was the second biggest tourist market of China in 2018, after Myanmar.

The Vietnamese Embassy in China recently said that tourism became an important pillar in cooperation between the two countries with more than 12 million tourists travelling in 2018. Of this, nearly 6.5 million Chinese people traveled to Vietnam and more than 6.3 million Vietnamese travelers entered China.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in 2018, China greeted 141.2 million foreign tourists, a slight increase of 1.2% over that of 2017; including 62.9 million tourists staying overnight, a rise of 3.6%. Total revenue from foreigners reached USD127.1 billion, up 3%.

Meanwhile, a total of 149.72 million outbound trips were made by Chinese tourists in 2018, up 14.7% from the previous year, with Vietnam being among the most favored destinations besides Thailand, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

For domestic market, the country provided services to more than 5.53 billion domestic tourists, up 10.8% from the previous year; grossing CNY5.97 trillion, up 10.5%. Tourism created jobs for 28.26 million people, contributing about 10.29% to the country’s employment market./.
