The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), in association with VietJet Aviation Joint Stock Company, has organized a roadshow to promote Vietnam tourism in four Korean cities: Seoul, Daejeon, Daegu and Busan.

The program attracted the participation of hundreds of travel agencies, reporters and state management agencies on tourism in the localities.

In his speech, Deputy Head of VNAT Ngo Hoai Chung said through the roadshow, Vietnam hoped to receive the contributing ideas of Korean businesses, associations and state management agencies to help Vietnam increasingly develop tourism and continue to be a favored destination for Korean tourists.

The roadshow introduced Vietnam’s prominent tourism products which are luring the attention of Korean tourists such as culture, heritage, eco-tourism and luxury recreation tourism, and provided more information about National Tourism Year 2018 in Ha Long - Quang Ninh and ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019.

Currently, the Republic of Korea (RoK) is the second largest market sending tourists to Vietnam, just after China. The VNAT Deputy Head said Vietnam always defines the RoK as one of its biggest and most important markets. In recent years, Vietnam has seen a rapid growth in the number of Korean tourists. In 2017, the country greeted 2.4 million tourists from the land of Kimchi, a 56.4% rise over a year earlier.

In the first five months of the year, Vietnam received more than 1.44 million Korean tourists, a year-on-year increase of 62.1%, the highest growth rate in many years. The market also took the lead in the growth of foreign tourists to Vietnam. Meanwhile, in 2017, about 323,000 Vietnamese tourists traveled to the RoK, a year-on-year rise of 28.8%./.
