Vietnam’s aviation receives 94 million passengers in 2017

Flight VN220 from Ho Chi Minh city to Hanoi landing at 10h05 at the Noi Bai International Airport on December 27th carried the 94 millionth passenger of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

Mr. Nguyen Van Huynh from Vietnam, the special passenger, shared “the quality of services at domestic airports saw improvements from the previous time, however, I hope domestic airlines will reduce flight cancellation to avoid passenger’s unpleasantness”.

It also marked the 800,000th flight managed by Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation in 2017 and carried the 1.5 millionth member of Golden Lotus Program of Vietnam Airlines, Nguyen Thanh Son, also Vietnamese nationality.

Compared to 2016, the numbers of passengers passing through ACV’s aviation ports in 2017 surged by 16% to 94 million passengers. Meanwhile, the number of taking-off and landing flights reached 600,000 this year, a 10% rise over a year earlier.

Currently, 67 foreign and four domestic airlines are operating in Vietnam’s airports. After 20 years, the number of passengers increased about 17 fold and the number of safe flights also rose 5.3 fold./.
