He said Vietnam’s tourism potential is increasingly affirmed, with many attractive destinations shown through international events hosted by the country.

With the efforts of successfully organizing the second DPRK - US summit in February, Vietnam is increasingly recognized as a friendly and hospitable destination.

“Nearly 3,000 foreign reporters covering news during the summit is a very good opportunity to promote the image of people and landscapes of Vietnam. The tourism industry made good use of this opportunity to organize free tours around Hanoi, Ninh Binh and Quang Ninh provinces. The capital Hanoi as host of the event warmly welcomed the international reporters and treated them to many traditional dishes. These have left deep impressions on international reporters and tourists,” he stressed.

Some 159 foreign reporters registered the free tours, including 12 people touring Ninh Binh, 11 visiting Ha Long city in Quang Ninh and the rest experiencing city tours in Hanoi.

Vietnam strives to welcome 18 million foreign tourists in 2019 with the focus on the US, Japanese and Korean markets which saw sharp growth in number of travelers to the country.

Mr. Binh also noted the target of gaining 30 million international tourists by 2025 requires Vietnam to have more new steps, many new and attractive tourism products. Currently, the tourism industry plans to develop golf tourism with the belief that the sport would attract more foreigners to Vietnam in the near future./.
