Vietnam to have first tourism market in Lao Cai

Construction of the Pho Moi tourism market, the first ever its kind in Vietnam, has been kicked off in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.

The project is expected to contribute to preserving the traditional market model, as well as creating more shopping, sightseeing, and entertainment options for tourists.

The market, invested by Cuong Phat Market Management Exploitation and Construction Co-operative, covers more than 11,500 square meters and has a total investment of nearly VND400 billion (about USD17.58 million).

It is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019, with 557 stalls from 31 sectors.

Nguyen Thanh Duong, Deputy Chairman of the Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee, said that the project scale is suitable to Lao Cai city and it is an important part of the city’s sustainable development on the Con Minh - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh route, which is a major tourism area of the country and of ASEAN./.
