The discussion and cooperation partially come from the positive effect of efforts to promote Hanoi’s image between the Hanoi People’s Committee and Cable of News Network (CNN), opening a new way for promoting attractions in Vietnam.

Since the tourism promotion plan on CNN was launched in 2017, the American channel has popularized the images of Hanoi through stories on different topics such as culture and sports.

The innovative marketing campaign on CNN between 2017 and 2018 helped Hanoi to earn the Best Marketing Campaign Award at the 8th Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asia-Pacific Cities Forum, held in Ho Chi Minh city in June last year.

The capital greeted some 1.9 million foreign tourists in the first quarter of 2019, a 15.5% rise over a year earlier, including over 1.3 million foreigners staying overnight, a 12.6% rise./.
