Exhibition on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa in Nam Dinh province

An exhibition on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa opened at Giao Thuy district Cultural House in the Red River Delta province of Nam Dinh on August 29th.

The event is being held by Nam Dinh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nam Dinh provincial High Command of Border Guard and Giao Thuy district People’s Committee.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh provincial People’s Committee Bach Ngoc Chien said that the event aims to improve people’s awareness and understanding on Vietnam’s sea and islands, and affirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes.

In the framework of the exhibition, Major General Bui Trung Dung, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard, will present brief information about the East Sea and the preservation of security, order and safety at the sea.

On display are nearly 100 maps and atlases selected from more than 260 ones featuring Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes, documents written in ancient Chinese, Vietnamese and French languages and issued by the Vietnamese Feudal States and French administration in Indochina from the 17th - 20th century.

There are the Nguyen dynasty’s royal records and administrative documents from 1954-1975 and from 1975 to now, which affirm Vietnam’s exercise and protection of its sovereignty over the archipelagoes./.
