According to the news, the island is “reachable by flight from Ho Chi Minh city or ferry from Vung Tau. It offers intact coral reefs, palm-shaded strands, rainforest trails and chic beach hotels like the Six Senses Con Dao.”

The best way to get around Con Dao is via motorbike, easy to hire from most hotels or a local rental outfit.

Last month, New York based Travel + Leisure included Con Dao on a list of the best secret islands on Earth. In 2016, the islands made the Lonely Planet's list of top 10 must-see places in Asia.

The remaining islands that make this list are Koh Rong (Cambodia), Pangkor (Malaysia), Lampi (Myanmar), Andaman Islands (India), Palawan (the Philippines), Tokunoshima (Japan), Raja Ampa (Indonesia), Ulleung-Do (the Republic of Korea), Koh Phayam (Thailand), Samosir Island (Indonesia) and Hokkaido (Japan)./.
