5,000 people walk for peace in Seoul

An estimated 5,000 attendees from 160 countries/terrritories arrived in Seoul for a 3-kilometer walk to wish for a world without war, a peaceful planet and peace in Korea.

The event was attended by Rotary International President Ravindran; director management, Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon; ambassadors to Korea and 5,000 volunteers in their traditional costumes walking from Seoul City Hall to Gwanghwamun Square.

Besides, the volunteers will also participate in other activities such as visiting exhibitions on the history of Rotary’s volunteer work and dancing flash-mobs to encourage peace and world sharing.

The event was a part of activities in the framework of the global festival called Rotary International Seoul Convention 2016.

The Rotary International Seoul Convention 2016 was held in Korea for the second time, the first was in 1989./.
