Attorney Sullivan nominated for US Deputy Secretary of State

President Donald Trump has nominated attorney John Sullivan of Maryland to be Deputy Secretary of State, the White House announced on April 12th.

It said in a statement he would also serve as Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources.

Sullivan previously served as chairman of the United States-Iraq Business Dialogue, a government advisory committee that dealt with US-Iraq economic relations. He also held senior positions at the Justice, Defence, and Commerce departments, including as Deputy Secretary and General Counsel at Commerce, Deputy General Counsel at Defence and counsellor to Assistant Attorney General J. Michael Luttig.

Trump has also tapped John Marshall Mitnick to be general counsel at the Department of Homeland Security. He currently works for the Heritage Foundation and held various positions in George W. Bush's administration, including deputy counsel of the Homeland Security Council from 2004 to 2005.

The nominees will have to be confirmed by the Senate./.
