Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop visits US

On February 20th, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop began her official visit to the U.S.

Julie Bishop will meet US Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Washington DC.

As well as Mr Pence and Mr Tillerson, Ms Bishop will meet senior appointees in the intelligence community. “This will be an opportunity for Australia to engage with the new administration and discuss our interests and perspectives in areas of common concern,” Ms Bishop said.

The Australia – United States Free Trade Agreement (AUSFTA) was signed on May 18th, 2014 and came into effect on January 1st, 2005.

U.S. two-way trade with Australia was USD69 billion in 2015 – 2016 and two-way investment was USD1,450 billion./.
