Mr. Bakri Hassan Saleh was also named Prime Minister by the Executive Bureau of Bashir's National Congress Party (NCP).

"He will take the oath as Prime Minister tomorrow," Ibrahim Mahmoud, the NCP's Deputy Chief, told reporters, adding that Saleh would also hold onto his current post as Sudan's first Vice President.

He will also continue his duty as the President's first assistant and form a Cabinet while consulting with partners who attended a national dialogue process.

Bakri Hassan Saleh has sworn in on February 3rd and immediately started negotiations on forming a new cabinet, said Mr. Ibrahim Mahmoud.

Al-Bashir eliminated the post of Prime Minister when he came to power in 1989 following a bloodless coup.

But late last year, the president proposed constitutional reforms that included the appointment of a Prime Minister./.
