The visit comes at the invitation of President Putin and marks the resumption of the high-level agenda between Brazil and Russia.

In Moscow, President Temer will also have meetings with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the chairpersons of the two houses of the Russian Federal Assembly, Valentina Matvienko and Vyacheslav Volodin.

On June 21st, the two Presidents met to discuss ways to deepen the strategic bilateral partnership established in 2002, including through expanded economic trade and advances in scientific and technological cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between Russia and Brazil were established in 1828, but ties were cut for 28 years after 1917 and for another 14 years after 1947.

The two states signed their basic partnership agreement in 2000, and in November 2004 Putin made the first ever visit by a Russian leader to Brazil./.
