New Zealand is one of the first countries in the world to celebrate the New Year. The Sky Tower in Auckland is home to firework displays and art performances on New Year's Eve.
After New Zealand, the New Year knocked on the door of Australia as about 1.5 million people gathered in the Sydney Harbor Bridge to enjoy speculator firework displays.
The colorful firework displays at Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong (China) brought exciting moments for thousands of people in the New Year.
Hundreds of Indonesian couples celebrated New Year's Eve by tying the knot in a mass wedding in the capital Jakarta. Most of them did not hide happiness with one of the biggest events in their lives at the moment of the New Year.
In Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, big crowds gathered to celebrate the start of 2018 as the Burj Khalifa - the world's tallest building - served as the focal point for the UAE's New Year celebrations.
In Moscow, boulevards and large squares were decorated to welcome the New Year 2018. Fireworks were prepared to be displayed at 36 locations.
In France, the Triumphal Arch in Paris lighted up with laser projection while the Champs-Elysees avenue was also crowed with New Year’s greetings. Aiming to ensure the safety for the celebrations, French authorities enhanced security measures and deployed about 140,000 personnel to spread everywhere.
Other big cities in Europe such Athens (Greece), Rome (Italy), Vienna (Austria), and Madrid (Spain) rang in the New Year with very impressive firework displays.
