On January 16th, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that representatives of Cuba and the US have held the fourth bilateral meeting on human trafficking on January 12th - 13th in Washington.

The meeting was presided over by Director of Bilateral Issues at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yuri Gala, and the ambassador in charge of the Monitoring Office and Fighting Human Trafficking at the US Department of State, Susan Coppedge.

It was the fourth exchange between the two countries on the issue of trafficking in persons, and seeks to coordinate efforts in the prevention and prosecution of that criminal enterprise, as well as identifying areas of possible cooperation, the State Department announced.

Those measures are also applied to other crimes related to sexual and labour exploitation.

Cuba and the US held the first meeting on claims in December 2015 in Havana, and met again to discuss the issue in July 2016./.
