Dmitry Medvedev elected Head of UR Party

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on January 22nd was re-elected as Chairman of the United Russia (UR) Party for the next five-year term.

Boris Gryzlov, chairman of the Supreme Council of the UR Party proposed to re-elect Mr. Dmitry Medvedev.

Russian President Vladimir Putin served as the party's Chairman prior to Medvedev.

Knowing as the ruling and largest party in Russia; as of 2017, UR holds 343 of the 450 seats in the State Duma.

The UR Party formed in December 2001. As of 2017, the UR Party supports the policies of the presidential administration. The Party's association with President and former Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has been the key to its success./.
