Earlier on the same day, the Republic of Korea military said DPRK had shot short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan.

Defense officials in Seoul said the short-range ballistic missiles were fired at daybreak from near the DPRK’s northeastern city of Hamhung. It was the fifth round of launches in two weeks.

In a statement, the EU spokesman said that with the launch of two short-range ballistic missiles on August 10th, the DPRK continued to undermine international efforts in building trust, establishing peace and long-term security on the Korean Peninsula.

The EU hoped that the DPRK would “refrain from any further provocations, abide by its stated commitments, and fully implement its international obligations as determined by multiple United Nations Security Council Resolutions.”

The statement asked Pyongyang to take "concrete and credible" steps towards abandoning its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, and called for more talks./.
