Myanmar, Bangladesh coordinate to repatriate Rohingya

Myanmar and Bangladesh have discussed measures to ensure safety for the repatriation of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya who have fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar in recent times.

At a meeting in Bangladesh’s Dhaka capital on October 2nd, Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali and Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor of Myanmar Kyaw Tint Swe agreed to set up a joint working group to coordinate the repatriation process.

The same day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand said the country is keeping a close watch on the situation and ready to support Myanmar and Bangladesh to address the Rogingya refugee crisis.

Representatives from the United Nations also visited three different areas in Myanmar’s northern State of Rakhine where 500,000 Rohingya Muslims have left their home due to conflicts there./.
