RoK President plans to visit India, Singapore

On July 2nd, the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s presidential office said President Moon Jae-in will make state visits to India and Singapore from July 8th – 13th.

President Moon Jae-in will visit India at the invitation by Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, from July 8th – 11th.

In India, Mr. Moon will meet with President Ram Nath Kovind on his first visit to the country, according to the office.

Besides, the RoK’s President will also have a summit with PM Narendra Modi. During their summit, the two leaders will discuss ways to strengthen their special strategic partnership, and ways to further expand future-oriented cooperation.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the RoK and India. "India has become an important partner not only economically, but also for its efforts for peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and the international community," presidential spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom said.

After his visit to India, Moon will also visit Singapore from July 11th to 13th, the Blue House said, and give a speech on his vision and policies for permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula, as well as cooperation with Asian countries in the region.

As scheduled, Mr. Moon will meet with Singapore President Halimah Yacob and PM Lee Hsien Loong.

Through his meetings with the two leaders of Singapore, Moon will evaluate the result of cooperation between the two countries so far and discuss ways to enable future-oriented cooperation... based on such progress, according to the Blue House./.
