Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Najib Razak and Indian PM Narendra Modi have announced that their countries would enhance cooperation in several fields, including terror fighting in the region, according to the Sutnik News Agency.

The two Prime Ministers announced that their countries would also enhance cooperation in several aspects of the field, including training and capacity building, maintenance of equipment, maritime security and disaster response.

In his statement to the media after the two sides held delegation-level talks, PM Modi said the visit comes at a historic time, when India and Malaysia are celebrating 60 years of ties. “I deeply appreciate our continuous cooperation with the Malaysian government in our joint anti-terrorism efforts,” he said.

The PM added that the leadership of the Malaysian PM in countering radicalisation and terrorism “is an inspiration for the entire region”. “We live in a time and in a region where both conventional and non conventional security threats are constantly on the rise.”
