Netanyahu was met by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and a military honour guard. He met with Singapore President Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam in a meeting also attended by ministers from both countries.

Among the topics discussed were deepening bilateral cooperation in technology in order to overcome common challenges, as well assistance to African countries in the fields of technology and initiatives. Netanyahu raised the issue of opening a direct air route between the two countries and invited the President to visit Israel.

"I feel that Singapore and Israel are kindred nations, and I find it's a special privilege - and an honour - to be the first Israeli Prime Minister to make an official visit to Singapore," Netanyahu said. "I think there is something special about our two nations.”

Netanyahu is accompanied by his wife, Sara Netanyahu, and a delegation of senior government officials./.
