Japanese PM Shinzo Abe visits France

On March 20th, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in France to meet with French President Francois Hollande.

During the talk, the two leaders confirmed bilateral cooperation in the research of the commercial use of nuclear power, as well as in security.

Hollande said France reaffirmed its support for an increased Japanese peace-keeping role, and said the two countries would work together to improve the ability of their forces to cooperate.

France and Japan also signed an agreement on reinforced cooperation on nuclear energy. Besides, the two countries supported a "free and open maritime order" in the Asia-Pacific region, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said.

Abe arrived in Paris after talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Hanover. He is scheduled to meet European Council President Donald Tusk and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni before returning to Japan on March 22nd./.
