Mongolia will hold its first Presidential election runoff after none of the three candidates won an absolute majority, election officials said.

Based on the results, all of the three candidates failed to secure enough votes to win the presidency outright, General Election Commission Chairman Choizon Sodnomtseren said at a press conference after the polls closed.

The president will serve for four years, and will have control of the military, as well as veto power over the parliament.

A total of 1,318,511 Mongolians cast their votes in the first round. The turnout was 66.54 percent.

The first round of the Presidential elections were held on June 26th.

The second round is scheduled to take place on July 9th./.
