Confirmation of the summit emerged after a 90-minute meeting between the US President and senior DPRK official Kim Yong-chol in the Oval Office on January 18th.

"President Donald J. Trump met with Kim Yong-chol for an hour and a half to discuss denuclearization and a second summit, which will take place near the end of February," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.

"The President looks forward to meeting with Chairman Kim at a place to be announced at a later date," she added.

Vietnam, Indonesia, Hawaii, Mongolia and the Demilitarized Zone between DPRK and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have all been floated by foreign diplomats and DPRK experts as potential locations for the next summit.

Earlier, President Donald Trump said leader Kim Jong-un sent him a “great letter” and that the two men would both like to meet for a second time.

Kim said in a New Year’s Day address that DPRK would take a “new path” in nuclear talks if the US didn’t relax its sanctions. He also said he’d be willing to meet Trump again.

The President responded to the speech with a tweet focusing on the prospect of a second meeting./.
