6-magnitude earthquake hits Hachijo-jima (Japan)

On November 9th, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that an earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck 165 km ESE (east-southeast) of Hachijo-jima, Japan.

The epicentre, with a depth of 20.34 km, was initially determined to be at 32.5357 degrees north latitude and 141.4466 degrees east longitude.

Another earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale also struck off Japan’s island of Okinawa on July 26th.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in the quake, which hit at a depth of 33 km, about 267 km east of Okinawa./.
