Australian PM Scott Morrison announces new cabinet

Australian Prime Minister (PM) Scott Morrison has named his first cabinet, including a record seven women.

Mr. Morrison announced Senator Arthur Sinodinos will become Australia's next ambassador to the United States, replacing Joe Hockey when his term ends.

Mr. Ken Wyatt was named as the Minister for Indigenous Affairs.    

Marise Payne will remain the Foreign Affairs Minister and has been handed additional responsibilities as Minister for Women. 

Mr. Morrison also named Stuart Robert as Minister for Government Services and placed him in charge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in the most significant new post in the reshuffle.

Bridget McKenzie will become the nation's first female Agriculture Minister, replacing David Littleproud, who will now focus on the natural disaster and emergency management portfolio.

Mr. Morrison announced Linda Reynolds to be the Defence Minister.

Sussan Ley was announced as the Environment Minister, replacing Melissa Price.

Paul Fletcher has been announced as the new Federal Minister for Communications, Cybersafety and the Arts in the Morrison Government.

Karen Andrews will be Minister for Industry, Science, and Technology, one of a record number of woman appointed to cabinet./.
