Consecutive earthquakes hit China

An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck the Wulong district in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on November 23rd, the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC) has reported.

More than 30 houses were damaged and one destroyed. Six people were slightly injured, local authorities said.

The quake struck Wulong county at a depth of about 10km, according to Xinhua.

Earlier, an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit Yunlin County of Taiwan at 22h20 on November 22nd (Beijing Time), according to the CENC.

The quake struck at a depth of about 16km.

Another earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale also hit Nyingchi in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

The quake was felt strongly in several counties in Nyingchi. About 227 aftershocks had been detected, including one with a magnitude of 5 or higher./.
