Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel visits China

President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel on November 6th arrived in Shanghai and began an official three-day visit to the People’s Republic of China.

At Hongqiao Airport, the Cuban President was received by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez; the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister, Qin Gang; Cuban Ambassador in China Miguel Angel Ramirez; the Chinese Ambassador in Havana, Chen Xi.

As scheduled, the Cuban President will meet with China’s President Xi Jin-ping, Premier Li Keqiang, the President of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Yang.

During his visit, President Miguel Diaz-Canel will complete an intense work agenda that includes the signing of bilateral agreements and a tour of the International Import Exhibition of China which opened in Shanghai for the first time.

China is the fourth stop of his first tour of Europe and Asia since taking office last April.

Earlier, the Cuban President visited France, Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

With 603 votes or 99.86 percent of the votes, Miguel Diaz-Canel, on April 19th, was elected as President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers by the ninth National Assembly of People’s Power (NAPP) for the next five years, succeeding Raul Castro as new leader of Cuba./.
