Dmirtry Rogozin appointed as General Director of Roscosmos

Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 24th appointed former Deputy Prime Minister (PM) Dmirtry Rogozin as General Director of Roscosmos State Space Corporation.

On the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Mr. Dmirtry Rogozin met President Vladimir Putin. At the meeting, the former Deputy PM said, "I will do everything possible and necessary to live up to your trust”.

In January 2008, he became Russia’s ambassador to NATO, serving until December 2011.

On February 18th, 2011, former President Dmitry Medvedev appointed Mr. Rogozin as Special Representative on anti-missile defense and negotiations with NATO countries on this issue.

On December 23rd, 2011, Mr. Rogozin was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, in charge of defense and space industry. As responsible for the defense industry, he leads the creation of the Russian Foundation for Advanced Research Projects in the Defense Industry. Dmirtry Rogozin is also the head of Russia’s Arctic Commission.

The Roscosmos State Space Corporation, known as Roscosmos, is a governmental agency responsible for the space flight and cosmonautics program of the Russian Federation.

The headquarters of Roscosmos are located in Moscow, while the main Mission Control space center is located in the nearby city of Korolev./.
