President Putin made the request during an official visit in the Austrian capital on June 19th. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz accepted the request and pledged to approach Trump.

"President Trump is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin next month while he is in Europe for a NATO summit," the Washington Post said.

The meeting could take place in advance of a July 11th-12th NATO summit in Brussels that Mr. Trump is expected to attend, the sources said. Leader of the US administration is also expected to visit London for talks with British Prime Minister Theresa May on the trip.

The two Presidents spoke briefly at the APEC Summit in Vietnam last November, and had two encounters during the G-20 summit in Germany last July.

Vienna is the place where the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (the world’s largest regional security organization) is headquartered. It comprises 57 participating states, including the US and Russia./.
