At the start of their meeting, Mr. Kim thanked Mr. Moon for brokering a June summit with US President Donald Trump.

The historic three-day-trip marks the first time since 2007 that a RoK President has travelled to the DPRK. The two leaders will discuss a host of issues, including economic cooperation, DPRK's nuclear weapons program and formally ending the Korean War.

"What I want to achieve is peace. Not a tentative change which could be volatile dependent on the international situation, but irreversible, permanent and unwavering peace, regardless of what might happen on the global arena," President Moon Jae-in said on Twitter ahead of his departure.

The two leaders signed a broad agreement on September 19th in Pyongyang that both said would usher in a new era of peace on the Korean Peninsula.

RoK President Moon Jae-in and his spouse Kim Jung-sook on September 18th flew to Pyongyang, the DPRK for their third meeting with leader Kim Jong-un.

Mr. Moon is only the third RoK leader to visit the DPRK's capital for a meeting between the two countries since the end of the Second World War.

It is the third time the two leaders have met this year, having previously held talks in the Truce Village of Panmunjom.

The DPRK’s Central News Agency said the summit "will offer an important opportunity in further accelerating the development of inter-Korean relations that is making a new history"./.
