Mr. Kim will arrive on November 9th for a three-day visit, accompanied by three other officials and 18 support staff.

His trip will be the diplomatic high point of the rapprochement between the DPRK and the RoK, triggered by the Pyeongchang Olympics in the RoK.

Mr. Kim Yong-nam will be the DPRK’s highest-level official to visit the RoK since 2014.

During the inter-Korean talks in January, the DPRK agreed to send its athletes and cheerleaders as well as a ranking delegation to the 23rd Winter Olympics in the RoK's east county of PyeongChang.

Earlier, the two nations reopened the communication channel that had been shut since 2016, following an offer from the DPRK’s leader Kim Jong-Un to send a team to the event./.
