DPRK’s Foreign Minister visits China, Azerbaijan and Russia

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)’s Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho on April 3rd has left Pyongyang for visits to China, Azerbaijan and Russia.

The visit was announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang, who said Mr Ri would meet Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Mr. Wang told DPRK's Foreign Minister Ri that Xi and Kim had reached an important consensus on achieving a peaceful resolution to the peninsula nuclear issue during Kim’s visit to Beijing, his first known trip outside the DPRK since he assumed power in 2011.

After visiting Beijing, Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho will take part in a ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) which is scheduled in Baku, Azerbaijan on April 5th - 6th.

The ministerial meeting themed "Promoting International Peace and Security for Sustainable Development" will bring together foreign ministers of NAM participating states, with representatives of observer states and countries invited as special guests.

Established in Yugoslavia in 1961, NAM is a group of states that are not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc, with the number of its members and observer states reaching 120 and 17. The DPRK acceded to the group in 1976.

In Moscow capital, Mr. Ri Yong-ho is expected to talk with senior Russian Government officials about the situation on the Korean Peninsula./.
