"Supreme Leader of the Party, state and army Kim Jong-un left Pyongyang with his wife Ri Sol Ju on Monday afternoon to visit (China)," the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

Kim Jong-un left for China on a private train and he was accompanied by other senior officials, the KCNA added.

In the Chinese border city of Dandong, dozens of security vehicles and officials blocked the roads around the train station before the train passed through, reopening them afterwards.

The summit with President Xi comes as Leader Kim and President Trump are negotiating over the location for a second summit meeting, and would also come on Kim’s 35th birthday on January 8th.

DPRK’s leader Kim Jong-un held three summits with President Xi Jing-ping last year, before and after summits with US President Donald Trump and the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s President Moon Jae-in./.
