Foreign Minister Ri Yong-Ho landed at Stockholm Arlanda Airport on a direct flight from Beijing and spent several hours at the Swedish Foreign Ministry before returning to the DPRK Embassy.

Sweden, which is not a member of the US-led NATO military alliance, has been mentioned as a possible location for a suggested face-to-face meeting between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un.

As scheduled, Mr. Ri Yong-Ho will have talks with Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallstrom. The talks will focus on Sweden’s consular responsibilities as a protecting power for the United States, Canada and Australia.

Sweden has had diplomatic relations with the DPRK since 1973 and is one of the few Western countries with an embassy in Pyongyang. It provides consular services for the United States in the DPRK.

The White House on March 8th confirmed that President Trump has accepted an invitation from the DPRK’s leader, Kim Jong-un, to hold an unprecedented summit meeting to reach an agreement on nuclear disarmament./.
