G20 summit to take place in Argentina

The 2018 G20 summit will take place in Buenos Aires on November 30th and December 1st.

The event will mark the 10th anniversary since the first summit which took place in 2008 in response to the global financial crisis.

The Argentine government said that it will deploy the biggest security campaign in history to secure the G20 Summit in Buenos Aires next weekend. 

22,000 officers will be mobilized to guard strategic spots and buildings surrounding the main venue. Subway and urban trains will stop operating and bus routes will be changed during the event.

The summit will be attended by world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and French President Emmanuel Macron. 

Throughout 2018, the Argentine G20 presidency organized over 60 meetings in 10 cities across the country.

Meetings held in different provinces allowed the G20 presidency to showcase the country, its culture, diversity and tourist destinations, and support the work of local producers and manufacturers, entrepreneurs and artists.

The G20 is made up of the world’s 20 largest economies including the US, Germany, the UK, Turkey, South Africa, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Saudi Arabia, Russia, Japan, Mexico, Italy, India, Indonesia, France, China, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Argentina, and the EU./.
