The 26-year-old reportedly entered the wooden-framed First Baptist Church dressed in black tactical-style gear, a ballistic vest and carrying an assault rifle. He shot victims ranging in age from five to 72 years old, including a pregnant woman and the pastor’s 14-year-old daughter.

The gunman was from the city of San Antonio, although he had relatives in the small town of Sutherland Springs where the shooting took place.

Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek said records showed Kelley joined Logistics Readiness at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico in 2010.

She said he was court-martialled in 2012 for “assault on his spouse and child” and spent a year in a military prison and was given a reduction in rank. In 2014, Kelley received a bad conduct discharge, she added.

On November 5th, at least 27 people were killed and 20 others injured after the gunman opened fire at a church.

Governor Greg Abbott confirmed the death toll and said it was the worst mass shooting in the history of Texas.

"This will be a long, suffering mourning for those in pain," he said at a news conference after the attack./.
