The Kremlin has said PM Modi and President Putin will discuss "key issues of developing the Russian-Indian privileged strategic partnership" and "pressing items on the international and regional agenda."

The informal meeting between PM Modi and President Vladimir Putin will be the Indian PM’s second visit to Russia.

“This informal summit in Sochi between PM Modi and President Putin is in keeping with the tradition of regular consultations between India and Russia at the highest levels,” a Ministry of External Affairs statement said on May 21st.

During their informal summit in the Russian city of Sochi, the two leaders will primarily focus on global and regional issues, including the impact of the US decision to withdraw from the nuclear deal with Iran.

Official sources said the two leaders would meet for 4-6 hours for “agendaless” talks.

“Greetings to the friendly people of Russia. I look forward to my visit to Sochi tomorrow and my meeting with President Putin. It is always a pleasure to meet him,” Modi said in a Twitter post, referring to his Monday talks with Putin.

“I am confident the talks with President Putin will further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia,” PM Modi added./.
