US President Donald Trump has named Mr. James Murray as the new Director of the US Secret Service (USSS), replacing Mr. Randolph Alles, the White House said.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement: “United States Secret Service Director Randolph “Tex” Alles has done a great job at the agency over the last two years, and the President is thankful for his over 40 years of service to the country”.

“Mr. Alles will be leaving shortly and President Trump has selected James M. Murray, a career member of the USSS, to take over as director beginning in May,” she added.

James Murray has been in the Secret Service since 1995. He held various positions in the agency, including as a liaison to Congress, the special agent in charge of the Secret Service's Washington field office and the agent in charge of the agency's training center in Maryland.

Mr. Randolph Alles was appointed as Director of the USSS in April 2017, having previously served as the acting Deputy Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

Earlier, Kevin K. McAleenan, the Commissioner of CBP, was named the acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), following the resignation of Kirstjen Nielsen.

Mr. McAleenan, 47, has been at the CBP since 2001, serving in both the Bush and Obama Administrations before becoming Acting Commission of the CBP in January 2017 under President Trump./.
