At least 48 people were killed and 5 are missing after torrential rains caused intense flooding and landslides in northwestern Iran.

Seven Iranian provinces, including East and West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Qazvin, Zanjan, and Mazandaran, have been hit since April 14th. Rescue operations are ongoing in 52 towns and villages.
So far, some 1,100 people have received relief services, 77 provided with emergency accommodation, and 6 transferred to hospitals, in 32 cities and villages.
Military personnel and Red Crescent officials are carrying out search operations using helicopters./.
