Mr. Iohannis said that he accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Mihai Tudose and will convene consultations with the parliamentary political parties on the formation of a new government.

Tudose resigned on Janauray 15th after the left-wing Social Democratic Party refused to support him as Tudose was struggling for power with the party's chairman Liviu Dragnea.

On the same day, Romania's ruling Social Democratic Party nominated Ms. Viorica Dancila for Prime Minister after the sudden resignation of Mihai Tudose.

If approved by President Klaus Iohannis, Viorica Dancila could be the first woman to become Prime Minister in Romania./.
