During his talks with RoK Foreign Minister Kang Kyung Wha in Singapore, Mr. Kono said the ministers also agreed that Tokyo and Seoul will work together to ensure a steady stream of reciprocal visits by the two nations' leaders.

Japan and the RoK are marking the 20th anniversary of the Joint Declaration on a New RoK-Japan Partnership towards the 21st century, which reaffirms their friendly and cooperative relations.

Earlier, RoK President Moon Jae-in travelled to Japan for a trilateral summit with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on May 9th.

It marked the first trip to Japan by both Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and RoK’s President Moon Jae-in since taking their respective offices.

President Moon Jae-in stressed the necessity of support from Japan and China “in the path toward peace in the Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia.”

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang pledged to further develop trilateral cooperation to “maintain peace and stability in the region to contribute to peace and prosperity in the world.”

The first ever annual trilateral summit was held in December 2008 in Fukuoka, Japan, focusing on maintaining strong trilateral relations, the regional economy and disaster relief./.
