RoK President Moon Jae-in visits US

The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s President Moon Jae-in on May 21st arrived in Washington, DC to hold talks with his US counterpart Donald Trump about strategies for Trump's upcoming summit with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s leader Kim Jong-un.

As scheduled, President Moon Jae-in will hold talks with President Trump on May 22nd, starting with a 30-minute private meeting where the leaders will be accompanied by only their interpreters, an official from Seoul's presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said.

Mr. Chung Eui-yong, top security advisor for President Moon Jae-in, said the RoK - US summit was aimed at frankly exchanging opinions between leaders about how to manage situations, saying that the summit would be focused on talks between the two Presidents.

The RoK President is expected to share with President Donald Trump his experiences dealing with the DPRK’s leader, so as to help Mr. Trump prepare for his own talks with Mr. Kim set for June 12th in Singapore.

This is President Moon Jae-in’s third visit to the US since taking office, and the summit with President Trump will be his fifth in the same period./.
