RoK’s President Moon Jae-in to visit Russia

The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s President Moon Jae-in will pay a three-day state visit to Russia later this week, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.

That will be Moon Jae-in’s first visit to the Russian capital since he was elected in May 2017, and the first state visit by a RoK president to Russia since 1999.

According to the Kremlin, the two leaders will host high-level talks on June 22nd on the further development of Russia - RoK relations in political, trade and economic and humanitarian spheres.

During the visit, the two heads of state will also discuss the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s denuclearization, and the establishment of peace on the Korean peninsula.

On June 23rd, President Moon Jae-in will head to the southern city of Rostov-on-Don to enjoy the RoK-Mexico match at the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup.

"The purpose of the state visit will be to discuss ways to increase the country's practical cooperation with Russia, which is at the center of the New Northern Policy," Presidential spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom told reporters at a press briefing./.
