Russian President begins visit to Serbia

On January 17th, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Serbia for his fourth visit to the Balkan country.

Thousands gathered in the streets of Belgrade, Serbia, to catch a glimpse of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The visit was scheduled in a bid to strengthen ties between the two countries.

“Russia, like Serbia, is interested in the situation in the Balkans remaining stable and not dangerous,” Putin told reporters at a joint news conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Putin discussed with President Aleksandar Vucic the current condition and further prospects for developing bilateral trade and economic relations.

Several bilateral agreements were signed, including on the supply of Russian gas and weapons to Serbia.

During the one-day visit, Putin awarded Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic with a Russian state honor, the Order of Aleksandr Nevsky./.
