Second round of municipal elections concludes in Cuba

The second round of the municipal elections of delegates to municipal assemblies in Cuba taking place in 1,103 districts, distributed in 153 municipalities of the island concluded.

On November 26th, the first round of the municipal elections took place, with a participation of 7 million 608,404 people of 8 million people convoked.

According to official data, the first round had a participation of more than 85% of potential voters.

Official media reported that 3,222 polling stations were activated throughout the country last Sunday to conduct the second round of voting.

The National Electoral Commission (CEN) said 35.47 percent of the elected delegates are women, and 14.36 percent are young people.

It is expected that in February elections will be held to elect deputies to the National Assembly, who will be responsible for appointing the president and the Council of State from among its members./.
